Eupatorium Purpureum

The impressive Liver or Queen’s Wort is the eye-catcher in the late summer border. This perennial flowers with large, soft pink umbels and is visited by bees, bumblebees, butterflies and other insects. Prefer fairly moist soil and a sunny location. On drier soil they remain lower and less bushy.

Care tips

The Eupatorium has few requirements. After flowering, it is possible to cut the plant back, but the flower also disappears on its own. Be careful of expanding this plant by seeding or rhizomes. Intervening in time is wise. In the last winter months or early spring prune the plant back to short to the ground. With this, a new season can begin again.
