The Kniphofia is a relatively easy plant to care for. Choose a sunny spot (at least 6 hours a day) and provide well-drained soil (slightly acidic to neutral). Water regularly, but avoid excessively wet soil. Remove wilted flowers after flowering, and prune away old leaves in spring. Protect roots with mulch in severe cold.
To get new plants, the root ball can be divided in the spring.
