This Wallflower is a short-lived plant, after about 3 years it is time to replace it. But if you prune the plant back a bit after its largest bloom in September, you can enjoy it just a year longer.
Put the plant in soil that is well-watered, nutritious and preferably contains some lime. If necessary, give some organic fertilizer in the spring.
‘Bowles Mauve’ is evergreen and fairly hardy. In severe frosts, protect the roots with some straw or twigs and leaves at the bottom if necessary.
By regularly removing the spent flower stalks, the plant retains its vibrant colors until autumn.
