Erysimum ‘Fragrant Sunshine’

Erysimum linifolium ‘Fragrant Sunshine’ is a small, compact plant with bushy growth and fragrant, warm yellow flowers. They look extra pretty next to the dark green, pointed leaves. This plant has only good sides. For one thing, it smells really good. And it starts flowering early in spring (April/May), has super abundant flowers well into July. The golden yellow flowers match well with the dark green foliage and look great next to daffodils and tulips that also bloom in spring. Bees also find it interesting, not to mention it stays green in winter, keeping your garden looking textured even in cold months.

Care tips

This Wallflower is a short-lived plant, after about 3 years it is time to replace it. But if you prune the plant back to 1/3 after its largest bloom in September, you can enjoy it for just one more year.

Put the plant in soil that is well-watered, nutritious and preferably contains some lime. Give some organic fertilizer in the spring.

‘Frangrant Sunshine’ is evergreen and fairly hardy. In severe frosts, protect the roots with some straw or twigs and leaves.

By regularly removing the spent flower stalks, the plant keeps its vibrant colors until autumn.
