The Rough Sunflower is an easy-to-grow plant. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in normal, well-drained soil. Water it more frequently during extreme summer droughts, but make sure the soil doesn’t remain constantly soggy. Cut off spent flowers throughout the season to encourage longer blooming, and in early spring (March), cut the entire plant back completely to just above the ground.
