This plant does well in a sunny spot in well-drained, neutral to calcareous, even stony soil. In summer, it is important to make sure the soil does not dry out too much, but in winter, avoid excessive moisture.
After the first bloom, you can prune the plant back about a third to keep it nice and compact. If it gets very cold, cover the plant in winter with a layer of leaves. Pots should be overwintered frost-free.
