Keep the soil evenly moist, but avoid waterlogging. Provide good drainage. Use a long-acting fertilizer in spring and a balanced liquid fertilizer during flowering. Remove wilted flowers for a neat appearance and prune the plant back in the fall or spring. In cold climates, protect the plant with mulch or put potted plants indoors.
