Your piece of nature in November

November is the time to winterize your garden pots. Start by removing dead and damaged leaves from the plants. For winter plants, you can cut off wilted leaves. Also, don’t forget to remove weed seedlings. Checking the leaves regularly will keep air circulation good and prevent mold.

Potted plants don’t need much water at this time, but make sure the soil doesn’t dry out. Want to fill out your pots a bit? Pansies are a nice option, but do take out the spent flowers regularly.

There are also many hardy potted plants that can stay outside, such as Dianthus Kahori, Gaultheria procumbens, Sempervivum, Fuchsia David, Helleborus, Bergenia and Heuchera.

When buying hardy plants, note that “hardy” does not mean they will always stay green. Hardy plants survive the winter, but may lose their leaves or color. Evergreen plants will remain beautiful, but are not always frost-resistant.

With a little care, your garden will remain a nice sight even in winter!
